FOR SCHOOLS

We support the work that you do in the classroom

Working With Schools Since 1995

ACAP works closely with schools in an inclusive way and strives for high academic achievement for all pupils. We are often called into schools when they have reached a ‘crisis’ point with a pupil or groups of pupils and we believe that this is the wrong way around.

ACAP believes in building solid partnerships with young people, their families and schools and working with them on preventative programmes so that problems do not exist in the first place. We operate a no blame culture and are not interested so much in what the pupil or school has done before we arrive.

We are solely interested in what we can do in order to bring about successful outcomes for all concerned. We deliver our best work when schools work with us from a position of mutual trust, respect and participation.

What commitment do we require from schools?

Arrange suitable place and time for regular sessions

Assigned member of staff responsible when ACAP in school

Provide information to mentor to support childs learning

Sensitively monitor the pupil's progress

How your school can benefit from ACAP

The interaction with an adult or young person of his or her own ethnic origin in the school can reduce a pupil’s sense of alienation within the school and improve the student’s overall motivation to learn. There will be less work for your school because of improvements in the relationship that you have with the African and African Caribbean pupils at your school.

By recognising that the presence of African and African Caribbean adults in your school will enhance its ethos as a multi-racial establishment;
By collaborating with ACAP your school will establish links with the African and African Caribbean community and improve school and community liaisons which we have found as being an underdeveloped area in most schools. If you believe your school would benefit from the services of ACAP, please call us on 01274 720254 and ask to speak to our School Liaison representative.

We also advise and support schools and teachers on issues which relate to cultural diversity, and how it impacts on the educational development of young people. Please contact us for further information.

Your support will help us to purchase essential educational resources and equipment we need to change children’s lives. Please tweet, share, or donate to help us in our mission to raise the educational attainment of children and improve the work that we do with parents
