Mackinley's

In 1982 a group of friends decided there was a need in the community, to try and source foodstuff from their native Caribbean islands. With frequent trips down to London and Birmingham and returning to the North of the UK with freshly imported goods, the beginnings of what the business is today was starting to be formed.

They began to retail from outdoor market stalls in Huddersfield, Dewsbury, and Leeds. Over the years as the business grew and the stalls allocated were not big enough to hold the growing variety of items, the business needed a more permanent and bigger outlet.

In 2010 and now under sole ownership, Mackinleys was opened, a town centre location with three floors of Caribbean, African, and other globally sourced fruits, vegetables, seasonings and spices. The product range also includes frozen poultry, fish and meats so customers can purchase a wide variety of items all under one roof.

With a wealth of knowledge and a family-owned business culture, Mackinley’s can ensure the best quality products on offer with friendly and helpful staff who can offer advice and information on the products available.
