Brief description of what you’ll be doing
Garden volunteering at ACAP is an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of a new gardening team. You will aid in maintaining the outdoor garden at our Education Centre so we can inspire and delight visitors with quality plants in a well-designed garden. You will also be able to contribute towards ACAP’s planned horticulture projects in the future.
Role Description
Do you have a passion for gardening and working outdoors? If so, then this volunteering role is for you. You can volunteer at your own pace as you help improve the gardens at ACAP and take part in our horticulture projects.
Key Responsibilities
General garden maintenance – including weeding, mulching, edging, raking, digging over, Pruning and path maintenance.
Clearing overgrown areas – keeping on top of weeds and other invasive species.
Tidying of the car park areas of weeds and leaves
Helping to maintain clear signs and labels around the gardens to educate and inform visitors
Order (where appropriate) materials necessary to carry out the required work
As required, assist with general maintenance work like painting, staining, sanding down benches, repairs to fencing
Working with other organisation on joint gardening projects
- Attend regular support and supervision sessions.
- To comply with ACAPs Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Guidelines.
Qualifications and training required
There are no set qualifications required for this position, all we ask is that you have a basic knowledge and love for gardening.

A basic knowledge of plant care and use of gardening tools.
