Self-worth, belonging, and purpose are key components of cultural identity, which goes beyond customs and history. In the UK, many young people of African and Caribbean heritage are subjected to social hurdles, under-representation, and prejudices as they grow up. At ACAP, we give young people a place to celebrate their culture, exchange tales, and impart knowledge that makes them proud of their identity.
ACAP gives young people the chance to discover their roots and appreciate the power of their heritage through history classes, spoken word, music, food, and creative arts. To close the generational divide, our elders also play a crucial role by sharing their life experiences.
Confidence is increased through cultural education. Young individuals grow more resilient, ambitious, and more prepared to handle life’s obstacles when they witness good reflections of their past. Because of this, ACAP’s work empowers people rather than just providing support.
Join us if you think that youth empowerment and cultural pride are important. We are always looking for volunteers, mentors, and sponsors to help us change Bradford’s African and Caribbean communities in a sustainable way.
